Australia vs India 2018: Shane Warne Backs Mark Waugh to be Australia’s Batting Coach
Former Australia’s legendary spinner Shane Warne wants his ex-teammate Mark Waugh to be team’s batting coach. The magician leg-spinner was not at all impressed by the shot making of Australia’s batters during the recently concluded series against South Africa. Warne was levied when he observed that the Australian batsmen are making the same mistakes and are not learning from it.

Thus, Warne believes it is time to move on from Graeme Hick, who is currently the batting coach of the Australian cricket team. Meanwhile, Australian cricket has touched a new low since the ball tampering scandal. Therefore, it has been hard on them to swallow defeats on a regular basis.
“Consistently in all these games (batsmen) make the wrong choice with shot selection,” he said on Fox Cricket. “Have (we) got to look at Graeme Hick and say what are you telling these guys?

In fact, Warne believes the responsibility of shots is on the shoulders of batsmen. However, one has to question to Graeme Hick’s role as the same mistakes are repeated.
“I know responsibility has got to come down to the players but it’s happened too often, is there a specific thing they are trying to do because whatever it is it’s wrong.
“Maybe it’s time for a change there and we get a new batting coach because the batters aren’t performing… maybe it’s time for a batting coach.”

On the other hand, Shane Warne believes the level of domestic cricket in Australia has gone down in the recent past. The legendary leg-spinner said he would have liked to see Mark Waugh as Australia’s batting coach. Waugh achieved great success as an opener in ODI cricket.
