What a scintillating show it has been by Usman Khawaja in his previous stint against Pakistan? He displayed top-notch cricketing skills while facing the Pakistan fast bowlers to force for a draw. However, he hasn’t ended the tour well, as he sustained an injury, which scratched him and Australia dearly.
Meanwhile, here comes the good news for Australia, as the recovery of Khawaja is in the end process. He coped up well with the injury and about to face bowlers in the nets during this weekend.
Progressing well, so far – Usman Khawaja
In a recent interview, Usman Khawaja quoted he is doing pretty well with the injury. He revealed he is running 100% on a treadmill and hopeful of repeating the same on the field as well.
“It’s going pretty well so far, just over two weeks, ran at 100 per cent yesterday on the treadmill, hopefully, run outside tomorrow, so progressing well so far,” Khawaja said last week about his recovery.
Usman Khawaja’s second-to-last Test innings was a monumental 141 which lifted Australia to a remarkable draw against Pakistan in Dubai. However, his injury in the second Test saw Australia losing the game and subsequently the series as well.
During his absence, Australia’s batsmen have fared pretty poorly across the formats. Both in the second Test in Abu Dhabi and then on home soil in three One-Day Internationals and Saturday’s rain-marred T20I against South Africa.
A lot of time has been left for Usman Khawaja to be back in the scheme of the things. India will first lock horns in a T20I series, which will be followed by the four-match Test series. Hopefully, Usman Khawaja is a certain starter in the first Test, which begins on December 6th in Adelaide.
