David Warner, who has been included in the Aussie squad for the third Test against India, has opened up on his experience in the bio-bubble. The batting mainstay was ruled out of the last ODI, three T20Is and two Tests after sustaining a groin injury in the second ODI while fielding.

David Warner has not been currently claimed as 100% fit but has been included in the squad. Australia team management has stated that the southpaw is likely to play the third Test even if he is not fully fit.

While talking to The Sydney Morning Herald, David Warner stated that the injury gave an opportunity for him to spend time with his family. He added that perhaps he would have taken some off from the bio-bubble if he hadn’t got a break because of injury.

“We know what we are facing. We have been in the bubble, we know what we are going to get so it’s not new to any of us who have been inside these bubbles.”

“I wouldn’t say fortunate enough that I got injured, but I was always going to have that time off as well. A lot of us got that option, to take that rest or not and we knew that was going to upset a fair few people coming from the IPL and missing the first couple of the games here.”

“But, at the end of the day, when you are given those opportunities, in my own situation with three kids and my wife, having not seen them, it was a no-brainer to have that time off.”

Cricketers have spoken out about how a bio-bubble environment can be detrimental to a player’s mental health. Recently, five Indian players- Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Navdeep Saini-have been isolated after the video of them eating out in a restaurant went viral. This depicts that the players are away from normal lifestyles in a high-pressure environment.
