The third day of the Boxing Day Test marked a great batting performance from the Indian team. They performed really well today with the bat. At the death overs of the day, the Australian bowlers fought back well and at stumps of the day, they got the match pretty much balanced at the end of day. Here is the list of the Hits and Flops of the day.

HITS of the Day

  1. Virat Kohli (India): The most dependable player of the Indian player once again showed his class today. He performed really well today and built a partnership of over 250 runs with Ajinkya Rahane. He played with sheer class and was also pretty much aggressive in his approach. He was dismissed at the final over of the day and he scored a total of 169 runs with 18 boundaries.
  2. Ajinkya Rahane (India): He is considered as yet another precious young talent of the Indian line up. He played brilliantly and also scored a great century. This was surely a well played and a well deserved century from Rahane. He was dismissed at the score of 147 runs which he scored off 171 deliveries. His innings involved 21 boundaries.
  3. Ryan Harris (Australia): The Australian pacer did manage to pick wickets which brought his side back to the game. He bowled at a decent line and length and bowled quite well. He took 3 wickets in the day. He bowled a total of 25 overs today and conceded 69 runs and took 4 wickets.

FLOPS of the Day

  1. MS Dhoni (India): The captain cool of the Indian line up did not perform as per expectations today. He came into the crease when things were pretty much under control. He needed to settle down at the crease but he gave away his wicket by edging a ball bowled by Harris. He scored just 11 runs today.
  2. Mitchell Johnson (Australia): The Australian speedster had a disappointing day today. He looked ordinary and could not trouble the Indian batsmen. Also, Virat Kohli smacked him for boundaries in a consistent manner. He bowled 29.2 overs in the innings so far and went for 133 runs. however, he managed to take Virat Kohli’s wicket in the final over of the day.
  3. Josh Hazlewood (Australia): The Australian pacer did not have a good time at the centre today. He struggled with his line and length and could not bring any breakthroughs for his team. He bowled a total of 25 overs and went for 75 runs.
  4. KL Rahul (India): The debutant batsman panicked much and thus gave away his wicket. He tried to be too much aggressive early on in his innings and thus was dismissed by edging a ball bowled by Lyon. He scored 3 runs.
