The fourth day of the fourth Test went in favour of Australia and India have been put once again on the back foot. After bowling out India in quick succession, the Australians started off their innings quite well today and they were also scoring at a good speed which showed their urge to go for a outright win instead of going for a draw. Here is the list of the hits and flops of the day.
HITS of The Day
- Chris Rogers (Australia): The Australian opening batsman played his part today and batted extremely well to provide Australia an advantage in the day’s play. He scored a total of 69 runs when he was dismissed by Ashwin.
- David Warner (Australia): Another opening batsman for Australia did set the pace in the score for them in the second innings. He started playing rather aggressively which tilted the pressure back on the Indian bowlers and it was a great solid cameo from him. He scored a total of 40 runs off 42 deliveries with 6 fours.
- Ishant Sharma (India): The speedster of India did set the tone for them today. He bowled at strict line and length and created opportunities for a number of times. He kept on asking questions to the batsmen and took 2 wickets today.
- Ravichandran Ashwin (India): The off-spinner did his job pretty well today and bowled at a decent line and length. He kept a tight line and length and took 2 wickets initially.
FLOPS of the Day
- Shane Watson (Australia): The Australian batsman struggled throughout his stay in this series and he was not in the best of touch so far in the series. He did not manage to score many even today and was dismissed by a great out swinger from Ishant Sharma. He managed to score just 17 runs.
- Umesh Yadav (India): The Indian pacer did not bowl as per the length today and gave away too many runs in the initial overs which put the pressure back on India. At one time, his economy rate was over 8 which was kind of embarrassing for any bowler.
- Steve Smith (Australia): The Australian captain failed to score high today and this was quite rare. He was trapped by Dhoni and he was caught at the leg slip cordon while he tried to flick a ball to the fine leg region. He scored a total of 14 runs.
