Avesh Khan Will Try To Excel While Playing For India But Felt A Little Nervous On T20I Debut
Fast bowler Avesh Khan says support from captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid calmed him as he made his India debut on Sunday. Avesh Khan couldn’t make much of an impact with the ball even as India beat West Indies by 17 runs. He conceded 42 runs in his 4 overs and was wicketless.
“I felt really good. Every player dreams about playing for the country and that came true for me. I enjoyed the match, we won the game so overall it was a good feeling.
“I will try to excel as much as I can for the country. It was my debut, I was obviously a little nervous. Rohit bhai backed me, Rahul sir told me to enjoy the game.
“We defeated West Indies in both ODI and T20I series, so it is a great feeling,” Avesh Khan told teammate Venkatesh Iyer in a video.

“I am trying to do the role assigned to me by the management. I am trying to finish the innings off. It is an asset for every captain if he can get two overs out of someone,” he added.
Playing for Delhi Capitals, Avesh Khan picked up 24 wickets in 15 games to finish as the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2021. He was part of the India squad for the New Zealand series limited-overs series after the T20I World Cup 2021 but could not get his chance in playing XI.
Avesh Khan wasn’t retained by the Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction and he went into the uncapped list of Indian fast bowlers. The Lucknow Super Giants bagged the pacer for a whopping INR 10 crore and he turned out to be the most expensive uncapped Indian pacer.
With the 17-run win in the third T20I, India won the three-match T20I series 3-0. Earlier, the Men in Blue had defeated West Indies 3-0 in the ODI series as well. India will next lock horns against Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series, beginning Thursday.
