Indian captain Virat Kohli and Pakistan’s T20I captain Babar Azam are compared now and then for their batting performance and style. Pakistan’s Test captain Azhar Ali has also drawn the comparison between them and named Virat as a big player.
Babar Azam made the debut in international cricket in 2015. Since then, he is performing significantly and is gaining fame for his performance. The right-hand batsman is ranked No.1 in T20Is while holds the position of third and fifth in ODIs and Tests respectively.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli is the best batsman at present. He averages above 50 across all the formats. The aggressive player is ranked the No.1 ODI player while holds the position of second and tenth in Tests and T20Is. He also tops the list of scoring most international runs since January 2017.
Azhar Ali Draws Comparision Between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam:
Pakistan Test captain Ali acknowledges that Babar Azam is a rising star of Pakistan, but he doesn’t get many opportunities like Virat Kohli. He said that Kohli has more achievements to prove himself a big player.
“At the moment, Babar is on a rise. Maybe he doesn’t have any many opportunities as Virat Kohli but at the moment you have to say that Kohli is still better in terms of his achievements. Talking about skills, Babar is not less than any cricketer at the moment. But if we talk from the perspective of records, or match-winning knocks or achievements, Kohli has got more opportunities and Kohli’s status also as a player is big.” Ali said as quoted by Times Now.
Well, India and Pakistan will face each other in the T20 World Cup 2020 scheduled in November. It will be interesting to see the two captains Babar Azam and Virat Kohli, leading the team to victories.
