Australia defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the second match at Chittagong and level the two match Test series 1-1. Nathan Lyon was the star for the Australian as he picked up 13 wickets in the Test match, taking his tally to 22 in the whole series. Bangladesh had earlier defeated Australia in the first match by 20 runs to record their first ever Test win over the Kangaroos.
Australia came back strong in the second Test match. After losing the toss, Australia bundled Bangladesh out for 305 in the first innings. Nathan Lyon was the pick of the bowlers for Australia as he took seven wickets in the first innings. For Bangladesh, their captain Mushfiqur Rahman was the highest scorer, he made 68 runs. Australia in the first innings took the lead of 72 runs. David Warner scored a hard fought 123 runs, his second consecutive Test century. He was superbly accompanied by Peter Handscomb who scored 82 runs.
In the second innings, Bangladesh were all out for a mere 157 runs. Nathan Lyon turned his web around in the second innings as well, picking up six wickets. Mushfiqur Rahim was the top scorer in the second innings as well with 31 runs. They lost all their wickets in a single day play on Day 4.
Australia set a modest target of 86 runs. They still lost three early wickets giving Bangladesh a glitter of hope, but Maxwell came in attacked the Bangladeshi bowlers and helped them reach the target in 15.3 overs. Nathan Lyon was adjudged the Man of the Match. He shared the Man of the series award with David Warner.
