BAN vs AUS First Test: Shakib Al Hasan Surpasses Garry Sobers And Ian Botham 1

Bangladesh’s star Shakib Al Hasan, on Sunday (August 27), added yet another feather to his already illustrious cap by achieving a unique double on the opening day of the first Test against Australia in Mirpur.

The all-rounder became just the tenth player in the history of Test cricket to score more than 3500 runs and take 150 wickets as he starred for the hosts against Steve Smith & Co.

In doing so, he also became the fastest ever-player to achieve the unique double, leaving behind the likes of Sir Garry Sobers, Ian Botham, and Kapil Dev.

The 30-year old took only 50 matches to cross the mark of 3,500 runs in 150 wickets in the longest format of the game. The southpaw had crossed the 150-wicket mark in Test cricket during the series against England at home last year while he scored 3,500 runs during the ongoing Test. Shakib needed 21 runs to achieve the feat and scored a crucial 84 to not only enter the record but also pull his team out of trouble. The left-handed batsman walked into bat when Bangladesh was reeling on 10 for 3 and scored 84 to help them post a respectable 260 in the first innings.

Meanwhile, legendary West Indies all-rounder Garry Sobers and England’s greatest Ian Botham were the joint holders of being the fastest to register 3500 runs and 150 wickets in Tests. Both of them had reached the mark during their 63rd Tests.

Here is the list of players fastest to 3,500 runs and 150 wickets:
