Bangladesh Cricket Board fined their director Khaled Mahmud on Monday (February 13) for a code of conduct breach in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League.
Khulna Tigers notched up a thrilling win against Fortune Barishal in their last game of the Bangladesh Premier League on Friday evening. Mahmud, head coach of the Khulna Tigers, was found smoking inside the dressing room during their match against Fortune Barishal.
As per the video which has gone viral on social media, Mahmud was caught smoking during the live match. The photo of Mahmud smoking inside the viewing area went viral, seemingly embarrassing the BCB high-ups. He is also the team director of the Bangladesh men’s team.A BCB statement added: “Mahmud was fined 30 percent of his match fees for a Level 1 breach (Article 2.20; Conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game) In addition to the fine, two (02) demerit points have been added to Mahmud’s disciplinary record. On-field umpires Ali Arman Rajon and Ravindra Wimalasari, third umpire Muhammad Kamruzzaman and fourth official Mahfuzur Rahman Litu leveled the charge. Mahmud accepted the sanction proposed by Match Referee Debabrata Paul and as such, there was no need for a formal hearing”
Apart from Mahmud, Rangpur Riders duo Shak Mahedi Hasan, Nicholas Pooran, and Comilla Victorians’ Musaddek Hossain have also been fined for breaching the BCB Code of Conduct.
Khaled Mahmud Will Be Back As Team Director In England Series
Khaled Mahmud will be back again as the latter will return as the Bangladesh team director in the England series. He was not part of the series against India last year. As Chandika Hathurusingha returned as Bangladesh’s all-format coach, he replaced India’s Sridharan Sriram as the head of the T20I set-up. Sriram, who worked as the team’s technical consultant at the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup last year, was effectively the T20I head coach in Russell Domingo’s absence.
