Bangladesh Spin Consultant Sunil Joshi Delighted for Contribution in Historic Test Win

The newly-appointed Bangladesh interim spin-bowling consultant Sunil Joshi has expressed a satisfaction while playing a vital contribution in the historic win over Australia during the first Test in Mirpur.

“I am happy to have made a positive contribution,” Joshi was quoted as saying by TOI.

After Bangladesh earned the ICC Full Membership, Bangladesh wrestled under the leadership of Naimur Rahman in One-off Test in November 2000 against India which further saw Joshi bagging Man of the Match award for his splendid bowling display.

“The victory in the year 2000 was a historic occasion and now this one too is,” Joshi added.

After teaming-up with the Tigers head coach Chandika Hathurusingha from Sri Lanka, the Bengaluru-based Joshi has praised the efforts of youngsters while revealing the Man of the match and ranked No. 1 all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been a prominent figure in the slow-bowling set-up for the side.

“There is absolutely no doubt about the fact that he is a leader of the bowling unit,” Joshi said for Shakib.

Joshi revealed Australia has had struggled against India in the recent past after losing three four-match Border-Gavaskar series by 2-1.

The former bowler Joshi, who bagged 41 wickets in 15 Tests for India, further believes the one special delivery made things miserable for the visitors while suggesting his wards to work rigorously on the plan during the ongoing series.

“There is one delivery that the Australians are struggling to pick up since the India series. I have told the Bangladesh bowlers to keep bowling that delivery and it’s working,” Joshi remarked.

However, the 47-year-old Gadag-born Joshi, who’s aware of Australia’s come back, revealed he wouldn’t disclose the particular ball Australia found hard to pick during the first Test at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.

“I won’t say which one it is till the series ends because I don’t want the Aussies to come up with a counter-plan but I picked up on it when they were playing India,” Joshi concluded.

Bring some positives to the table; the former Indian cricketer Joshi, who is excited after finding a new home, would be looking forward to the long-term contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Joshi was roped in by BCB management to train slow bowlers for the three-week program.

Following his contribution, the former left-arm orthodox spinner Joshi is confident of the hosts in the next Test which starts on September 4 in Chittagong.
