Harbhajan Singh, who made a comeback in the Test squad after two years of grueling wait against Bangladesh in one-off Test, to be held on June 10 in Fatullah, will be watched by many for his attractive blowing action. The veteran off-spinner of 101 Tests said he was always confident of making a comeback.
“I always believed that I will come back. Some of my seniors kept pushing me saying that I still have a lot of cricket left in me. I am grateful to them,” he said on the eve of the Indian team’s departure for Bangladesh after two day practice in Kolkata.
The “turbonator” was recalled in the team by the selectors following his impressive performance in the domestic cricket and IPL.
Well, a thrilled Harbhajan did not see any difference in his role now. “My role would be the same what it was five years back -to win games for India and help other bowlers,” he said. “We need to work as a unit as it is not about me, or some other bowler. So, it’s important that we back one another. That is what I have been doing when I was playing with Anil Kumble, Amit Mishra and others. The goal remains the same,” he added.
Harbhajan, who last played in 2013 against Australia in Hyderabad Test and took only two wickets, was welcomed by pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar who felt the spinner will add value to the side. “Bhajji brings a lot of experience to the side and it boosts our confidence,” he felt.
