Batsmen with Most Half-Centuries in ODI Cricket Including 50-plus Scores

There have been innings that have eventually helped the batters to leave an impact. However, across formats, a fifty and the ton hold great importance regarding a feat to achieve for the batters. Since the inception of the cricket, we have witnessed batsmen playing some remarkable knocks to wear down the opposition. While talking about the batsmen with most half-centuries in ODI cricket, batters further went on to score 50-plus scores.

Here’s the list of batsmen with most half-centuries in ODI cricket including 50-plus scores:

1. Sachin Tendulkar – 96 fifties:

One of the stalwarts of the game Sachin Tendulkar is the man who has bagged most of the records in his kitty. Owing to the swansong of his international circuit, Tendulkar further inspired many with his grit and passion. He has earned the first position among the batsmen with most half-centuries in ODI cricket.

More often Tendulkar walked in to bail out his team. During his entire One-day International career, the Mumbai has amassed 96 half-centuries to his name in 452 ODI innings.

Furthermore, the veteran scored fifty-plus scores on 145 occasions in his 463-record ODI matches.

Between the period of 1989 and 2012, Tendulkar amassed 18,426 runs at an average of 44.83. He has also registered record 49 centuries under his belt.

2. Kumar Sangakkara – 93 fifties:

Sublime left-handed Sri Lanka National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara had prolific run with the bat during his international stint.

In the fifty-over set-up, Sangakkara amassed overall 14234 runs in 404 ODI matches. In 380 innings, Sangakkara further racked up 93 fifties to his name. Sangakkara is second on the list among the batsmen with most half-centuries in ODI cricket.

Elegant in stroke-making Sangakkara further had a knack of converting his starts. He registered 25 hundreds which also saw him recording 50-plus scores on 118 occasions.

Sangakkara represented Sri Lanka for over 15 years while donning the national colours.

3. Ricky Ponting – 82 fifties:

Ricky Ponting was a pure class with the bat in hand. He happened to be a vital cog in the wheel for Australian set-up across formats.

Ponting played a remarkable role for the Kangaroos, particularly in the ODI circuit. After representing Australia in 375 ODIs, Ponting amassed 13704 runs at the batting average of 42.03.

Interestingly, the right-handed veteran batsman garnered 82 fifties in 365 innings. In addition to, Ponting scored fifty-plus scores on 112 occasions. He become third overall batsmen with most half-centuries in ODI cricket.

Moreover, while representing Australia between 1995 and 2012, Ponting registered 30 hundreds under his belt.

4. Jacques Kallis – 86 fifties:

The most decorated all-rounder Jacques Kallis has graced the cricketing world with his prowess. The South African star represented his country in 328 ODIs which further saw him scoring 11579 runs at an average of 44.36.

The prominent right-handed batsman Kallis further went on to rack up 86 the fifties and 17 hundreds during his entire ODI career.

Kallis who took all the time in the world scored runs freely. Interestingly, the world-class batsmen had gone past 50-plus run-mark on 103 occasions. Kallis is fourth on the list of batsmen with most half-centuries in ODI cricket.

The legendary cricketer Kallis further delivered goods across formats with the ball for the Proteas.

5. Mahela Jayawardene – 77 fifties:

Former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene is one of the premium batsmen the Island Nation has produced. Having flair in his batting, Jayawardene amassed runs at his will.

In 448 ODIs, Jayawardene registered 12650 runs at an average of 33.37. After making his ODI debut in 1998, Jayawardene had put on some splendid batting efforts to cement his spot in the team.

Moreover, the classical batsman smashed 77 half-centuries and 19 hundreds in 418 ODI innings.

Also, he has 96 50-plus scores to his name which further won him accolades in the top-flight cricket.

6. Sanath Jayasuriya – 68 fifties:

Explosive opening batsmen for Sri Lanka Sanath Jayasuriya although has 68 fifties to his name in 445 ODIs. However, on 96 occasions Jayasuriya went past 50-run mark in 433 ODI innings.

8. Sourav Ganguly – 72 fifties:

Moreover, Ganguly, who served as the cornerstone for Indian National Cricket Team, has garnered 72 half-centuries in 311 ODIs. Also, in 300 innings, Ganguly has 22 hundreds to his name which equally saw 94 50-plus scores for Kolkata-based cricketer.

9. Inzamam-ul-Haq – 83 fifties:
