BBL 04 started with a bang on December 18th. Tim Ludeman, Adelaide Strikers opener smashed the Melbourne Stars bowlers all around the park and made a mockery of 149 run target Strikers got to chase. His innings not only out-shunned the hard-work Kevin Pietersen put in his 66 run innings for Melbourne Stars, but also showed what this season of Big-Bash could bring for fans. So, relying upon this fact, let’s get across to the second clash of the season between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades that takes place on December 19th.
The Champions of the BBL 01 will have a lot to prove this season. Ed Cowan will straightaway look to make amends to register his case for the West Indies tour that’ll take place after the World Cup. Nic Maddinson, the Australia ODI certainty after the World Cup, will have to shoulder a big responsibility at number three. Sean Abbott, who made a great return to cricket by taking 8 wickets in his last Sheffield match, will also like to continue his good form.
Their bowling looks as strong as ever. With Brett Lee, Trent Copeland and Doug Bollinger there, Renegades batsmen will have their task cut out if they have to score big.
Wouldn’t shy away from saying that Renegades have the best batting lineup in the tournament. Captain Aaron Finch will lead the charge with Australia Test hopeful Peter Nevill. The stability of Callum Ferguson at three will be followed by the brashness of Tom Cooper, West Indies ODI captain Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell. Have to say that this lineup is capable of scoring big in each match irrespective of the conditions.
In bowling also they aren’t far behind. Peter Siddle will lead the attack and if Nathan Rimmington, Fawad Ahmed and Dwayne Bravo provide him good support, Renegades will most probably become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals.
