Needing three runs off the final ball to win the match, Ashton Agar hit a six off the bowling of Aaron Finch to help Perth Scorchers defeat Melbourne Renegades by 4 wickets. The visitors needed 9 runs from the last over and Renegades skipper took the onus upon himself to defend the score and he was looking destined to come out with a positive result for his team until he bowled a full-toss to Agar.
Chasing 149, the Scorchers were cruising at one stage when they were 131 for 2 after the end of the 17th over. But some quick wickets threatened to derail their chase before the Agar’s heroics took them over the line. Opening batsman Michael Klinger top-scored for them with 72 while Mitchell Marsh scored 34.
Earlier, the Renegades batsmen failed to convert their starts into a big one as a result, their innings never got the momentum and eventually ended at 148. Marcus Harris and Aaron Finch added 40 runs for the first wicket before the Australia’s limited-overs’ opener was dismissed by Andrew Tye. Cameron White (37), Callum Ferguson (28) and Dwayne Bravo (23) got the starts but none could stay until the end to ensure a big total for the Melbourne-based outfit.

The Renegades finally dismiss Michael Klinger, for the first time in club history. His numbers against the reds? 267 (173). Maxi Bradman.
