BBL 06: England’s Tim Bresnan Signs For Perth Sçorchers
Tim Bresnan has become the latest England player to join the Big Bash League. The 31-year all-rounder, who is currently out of the England team, has signed for Perth Scorchers as the international replacement player for compatriot David Willey, who will be leaving for England to join the squad for the upcoming limited-overs series against India.
Bresnan will be available for selection against Brisbane Heat on January 11.
Welcoming the signing, Perth Scorchers coach Justin Langer said:“Tim is another very experienced player who’s done very well in Twenty20 cricket in England.”
Bresnan previously played in the BBL for Hobart Hurricanes in 2014-15 season and Langer hopes his vast experience will be an asset for the Scorchers.
“His international experience and first-class experience is a great asset for us. Like with the rest of our squad, he’s a very good person who’ll fit in very well for our team ethos,” he added.
The Yorkshire all-rounder, who has played 23 Tests, 85 ODIs and 34 T20Is for England, said that agreeing to ply his trade in the BBL was an easy decision for him.
“It was an easy decision really,” Bresnan said.
“The past history of Big Bash they’ve always done well, so it’s a logical choice. “When they said they wanted a replacement for Dave Willey I jumped at the chance.
“I’m looking forward to getting out there and playing some Big Bash cricket again. I really enjoyed it last time when I played with Hobart,” he concluded.
