BBL 06: Twitter Reacts As Hobart Hurricanes Thrash Adelaide Strikers By Eight Wickets 1

Riding on Daniel Christian’s magnificent bowling performance and a clinical batting performance from the top-order, Hobart Hurricanes thrashed Adelaide Strikers by eight wickets.

Batting first, the Strikers made a good start as Ben Dunk and Jake Weatherald added 40 runs for the first wicket before Dunk’s dismissal opened the floodgates. Brad Hodge’s side lost three wickets inside six runs, as a result, their innings never got the impetus to get to a big total. Travis Head (24) and Hodge (55) tried to steady the ship with a 48-run partnership for the fourth wicket but consumed too many balls as their innings eventually ended on 143.

In reply, the Hurricanes fired on all cylinders right from the word go. D’Arcy Short and Tim Paine raced to a century stand in only 11 overs before Short was dismissed for 60 with the scorecard reading 105. 10 runs later, Paine followed Short to the pavilion but Kumar Sangakkara (22) and George Bailey (6) shared an unbeaten partnership of 29 runs to take their team home.
