BBL 06: Twitter Reacts As Sydney Sixers Thrash Perth Scorchers By Six Wickets
Dec 27, 2016 at 5:03 PM
Sydney Sixers registered a comprehensive six-wicket victory over Perth Scorchers to bounce back from the humiliating defeat they suffered against Hobart Hurricanes before Christmas.
Chasing a relatively easy target of 131, Sam Billings and Brad Haddin made a fine start by adding 35 runs for the first wicket before the former Australian wicket-keeper was dismissed by Andrew Tye. 16 runs later, Billings was sent packing by William Somerville but his dismissal did not derail the chase as the next batsmen chipped in with useful knocks to take the Sixers home with two overs remaining. Johan Botha was the highest scorer for the Sydney outfit with 30 runs from 19 balls.
Earlier, none of the Scorchers batsmen could convert their start into a big score and as a result, their innings never got the impetus to get a big total. The Perth-based outfit kept on losing wickets at regular intervals as their innings eventually ended for 130 for 8 in 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh top-scorer for them with 31 runs from 29 balls.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the match:

At 37, he's still so effective with Botha bat and ball.
Sorry, I'll see myself out. #BBL06 @SixersBBL @johan_botha

Well bloody done @SixersBBL. They've always found a way to win in every tournament and they're doing it again here. #BBL06

The better team on paper lost would have won if fielded first with their long batting line up and dew.🎅

Bewildering @ScorchersBBL tactics when key bowlers needed to be injected into match & support Nye…not used Willey & M Marsh? #BBL06

Did it the hard way, but decent enough chase. Hopefully the good @SixersBBL turn up in Adelaide. Look forward to being there. #smashemsixers

For the second game in a row Michael Klinger has to justify a poor batting performance to the commentators #BBL06 #MadeTough

#TIL @johan_botha playing as an Australian in this @SixersBBL side. He was granted the citizenship last November. #BBL06
