BBL 2016: Eoin Morgan Back To Uplift Sydney Thunder!

England’s limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan, after missing the last edition of KFC T20 Big Bash League is back to be a part of the league as the southpaw has once again signed with Sydney Thunder for the first half of the competition. He will replace the Thunder’s captain Michael Hussey who retired from the game after leading the team to a win in the last edition.

Morgan will be part of the squad for the first five games before heading to India to play ODI and T20 series that will follow the five Test match series.

Morgan expressed a feeling of gaiety after coming back to the franchise and said “I’m delighted to be back at Sydney Thunder, particularly after the success they had last year, it’s great to be back and wearing the green shirt,

“Watching from afar the progress of the side last year was awesome and I was delighted for everybody at the club,” he added.

“It’s gotten bigger every year and the product now puts it right up there with the IPL in India,

“It’s a fantastic tournament to play in, it attracts the wider public and not just a cricket following and more importantly it attracts families to it. Cricket Australia have done a great job growing the game through the vehicle that is the Big Bash,” Morgan said.

Morgan has been a regular member of England’s T20 side and is also one of the few members of England cricket team to play IPL. In the previous edition of IPL, Morgan was a part Sunrisers Hyderabad that dazed everyone by emerging as the winner of the cash-rich league. He played seven games in the tournament scoring 123 runs at an average of 24.60.

Morgan will add to the depth of the batting line up and will also have a role as a finisher.

Recently, he backed out from the ODI squad that toured Bangladesh for the 3 ODIs and two Test matches.
