The duo of Aaron Finch and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo helped Melbourne Renegades sail over Sydney Thunder in the third game of the Big Bash League 2016/17. For the second consecutive day, captain winning the toss invited the other team to bat first and again it looked like they committed a mistake. Aaron Finch-led batting line-up started off well and charted 42 runs in first five overs but soon lost two early wickets of Marcus Harris and Cameron White.
Finch then himself took the charge and accelerated the run-rate to help his team get near the score of 100, before getting out on 63 off just 37 deliveries. A late cameo from Dwayne Bravo and a tidy innings from Callum Ferguson helped the Renegades set a target of 180.
Tom Cooper then provided a great start to the Renegades as he grabbed the first wicket of the innings on the first delivery of the innings. This blow was enough to dent the hopes of Thunder as in the very next over, they lost the wicket of Eoin Morgan. Though Ryan Gibson and Ben Rohrer stayed at the crease for next 10 overs, but they batted at a run-rate of nearly six, which put them under immense pressure.
This slow partnership from their batsmen scripted a loss for them in the end, they lost by a margin of 48 runs. The fast bowlers gave a good start to the Thunders which later the trio of Sunil Narine, Brag Hogg and Dwayne Bravo cashed upon as they grabbed six wickets amongst themselves.
