Dec 22, 2016 at 5:59 PM
In the third match of the Big Bash League, the Melbourne Renegades defeated Sydney Thunder in a lopsided battle. Sydney Thunder won the toss and opted to bowl first. In the Docklands stadium Melbourne, the Melbourne Renegades posted a pretty good total batting first as Aaron Finch top scored for them with 63 from 37 deliveries. The Renegades managed to put up 179 runs leaving the thunders a lot to do in the following 20 overs.
Chasing a big target of 180, no one really got going for the Thunders as they fell short of the total by 48 runs. They were bowled out for 131 with Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine and Brad Hogg all picking up two wickets each. The figures were of the veteran Brad Hogg who just gave away 22 runs in his 4 overs picking up two wickets. Ryan Gibson (39) was the highest scorer for the Sydney Thunder as Andre Russell and Eoin Morgan both failed to score big.
This is twitter reacted to the match:
Thunder batting just looks too hollow as compared to the last season sans Hussey, Watson and Kallis #BBL06
