BBL 2018-19: Adelaide Strikers Knocks Down Brisbane Heat By 5 Wickets, Twitter Reacts
Dec 19, 2018 at 5:52 PM
The opening game of Big Bash league 2018-19 bagged by the defending champions Adelaide Strikers over Brisbane Heat. They have knocked down Chris Lynn-led side by 5 wickets in a moderate chase on the board. Alex Carey was the star performer for Adelaide, who knocked a brilliant 70.
Rashid Khan stars again:
Initially, it was Adelaide Strikers, who won the toss and asked Brisbane Heat to bat first. They have got a brilliant start, as Billy Stanlake knocked out Brendon McCullum in the second ball of the innings.
However, Chris Lynn was at his usual best, who smashed the ball away from his presence. He knocked a brilliant 33 off 20 balls but failed to carry on with the flow. Meanwhile, Max Byrant and Joe Burns also got the starts but failed to make use of it.
Adelaide bowlers had quite a good day at the office, as all the bowlers collected wickets to their name. Rashid Khan was the wrecker-in-chief, who rattled three wickets while Mathew Short picked a couple alongside Billy Stanlake.
Alex Carey guides Adelaide to victory:
However, James Pierson’s 24*, in the end, helped them to put 146 on the board. In reply, Alex and Weatherald started the things cautiously to give a steady start for the team. However, Weatherald walked back while attacking Joe Burns.
He was quickly followed by Colin Ingram, which made things interesting. Despite the poor show from the other batsmen, Alex Carey stood firm at the crease to make things happen for Adelaide.
Though he lost his wicket at the crucial stage, Jonathan Wells and Jake Lehmann finished the chase. Pattinson bagged a couple of wickets while Swepson, Burns and Cutting picked each apiece.

This was a great moment, showing the rise of cricket in Afghanistan. Two Afghanistan superstars, both under the age of 21, going head to head in a domestic competition in Australia. @rashidkhan_19 @Mujeeb_R88 @ACBofficials #bbl08 #BBL pic.twitter.com/ohTgtRcx6e
