BBL 2018-19: Watch- D’Arcy Short’s Stunning Effort Catches Moises Henriques Short of his Ground

Hobart Hurricanes all-rounder D’Arcy Short has produced a stunning run out to end Moises Henriques’ innings against Sydney Sixers at Blundstone Arena. Meanwhile, Sixers posted 161 runs at the end of the quota of 20 overs.

Opting to bowl first, Johan Botha provided the first breakthrough for Hobart removing Joe Denly in the third overs. Botha continued to create the damage as he dismissed Justin Avendano to have the Sixers at 27 for two within five overs. Since then, Daniel Hughes and Moises Henriques started to bail their team out of the danger. They rotated the strike at ease while the odd boundaries kept coming.

Soon they started to shift gears as Sydney Sixers started to take control of the game banking on Daniel Hughes. On the other hand, Hurricanes skipper Matthew Wade tried different options to provide a breakthrough. In a bid to do so, he brought per time D’Arcy Short into the attack.

Better known for his match-winning batting performances, recovered a wayward throw from wicketkeeper Matthew Wade, diving to his right before flicking the ball back at the stumps in a swift motion. It caught the Sydney Sixers batsman by surprise, with Henriques not even bothering to dive.

D’Arcy Short’s fielding heroics earned the praise of former Australian batsman Brad Hodge. So much so, he even compared his efforts to that of former Australia cricketer Mark Waugh.

That’s amazing skill, a little Mark Waugh backhand panther,” Hodge said on Channel 7. “D’Arcy Short, you can’t keep him out of the game at the moment,” he added.

Moises Henriques was looking dangerous before his dismissal, hitting 31 from 24 balls and combining with Daniel Hughes (61 from 40) was a 67-run third-wicket partnership.
