BCB Give Green Signal To Mustafizur Rahman To Join IPL Auction
Bangladesh Cricket Board has given a green signal to Mustafizur Rahman to participate in the upcoming IPL auction. BCB has done the same so that Rahman gets back his lost touch. Earlier in July 2018, BCB had barred Rahman to play in different T20 leagues due to growing injury woes.
The Bangladesh board is more confident in managing Mustafizur Rahman’s workload if he goes on to play in IPL 2020. Meanwhile, six Bangladesh players have put their names forth for the upcoming auctions. The six players are Tamim Iqbal, Mehidy Hasan, Mustafizur, Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah and Taskin Ahmed.
Rahman is not in the best of forms.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has withdrawn his name from the auction which will take place in Kolkata on the 19th of December.
BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan stated that the board has changed their call as Rahman is looking more settled with his injury.
“At that point, we did not allow him to make him available for franchise-based cricket largely due to his injury. Now he is looking more settled and he is playing for quite some time [without picking up any serious injury],” said Akram.
“He played in the National Cricket League [first-class competition] and took part in the tour of India. If he can manage things properly then there is very little chance of picking up an injury. To be honest we are concerned with his form because he is a very important bowler for us. If he gets a chance to play in the IPL and if he can regain his form by playing there then it would be extremely helpful for us.”
Rahman had gone wicketless in the three-match T20I series against India and he was not picked to play in the Test series. Furthermore, he had conceded his runs at a high economy of 9.51. The southpaw seamer has scalped 24 wickets in the 24 IPL matches at an average of 28.54.
Meanwhile, 971 players have put their hats in the ring to go under the hammer. 713 Indian players and 258 foreign players have put their names forward.
