The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to advertise for the post of Team Manager of Indian cricket team. The idea was floated by the Committee of Administrators (COA), who met in Delhi on Monday. The Supreme Court appointed committee is keen to appoint a team manager on a contractual basis rather than giving him the job on tour to tour basis. Recently, COA had rejected the appointment of Milind Kanmadika, who was appointed as the team manager for India tour of West Indies.

“The manager’s job is not only to spend time in the changing room. His job is to ensure that a proper process is followed while picking a team or managing any sort of disagreement in the dressing room. The board appointed managers have failed to live up to the expectation,” a BCCI official had told TOI.

BCCI will opt for the same process just like they have done it while inviting the Head Coach of the side. They will advertise for the post inviting candidates, who will have to go undergo an interview so as to get selected for the post. The new team manager will be there with the team in till 2019 World Cup to be played in England.

This action from COA can be seen in wake of conflict between India coach Anil Kumble and skipper Virat Kohli during the long home season of Indian cricket team, where, as per the reports, the role of team manager was nothing as he did to convene the selection meeting due to the conflict. The news came into the public domain when the BCCI invited for the post of coach of the Indian cricket team, which revealed this tussle.

Meanwhile, COA has also instructed BCCI to solve the issue of Koch Tuskers Kerala franchise, which was banned by the board in the year 2011 due to the known payment of bank guarantee. BCCI is looking for an out of court settlement with the now-defunct franchise.
