The BCCI announced a probable squad of 30 men ahead of the South African tour of India beginning from 2nd October. In this squad Mohammad Shami, Ravindra Jadeja and Pragyan Ojha were included in the squad.

Mohammad Shami has been out of the reckoning after the ICC World Cup 2015 because of knee surgery and also missed the Test series against Sri Lanka and also missed the Indian Premier League 8. Pragyan Ojha will also make a comeback in the squad for the first time after he was banned for illegal bowling action only to be cleared once he rectified his action. 

The likes of Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Robin Uthappa were not even considered for 30 probables indicating that they are out of the mix as far as selection in the senior team is considered. The probable list comprises of 12 specialist batsmen, three wicketkeepers, one all rounder and 14 bowlers including eight fast bowlers and six spinners.  

Shami and Saha’s fitness will be assessed ahead of tough series comprising of 3 T-20, 5 One day Internationals and 4 Test matches.

The camp will be held in Bengaluru from 21st to 27th September.
