As per a report in The Hindu, the authorities provided the ground on a lease for the conduct of a private league, which drew the attention of the Anti-Corruption Bearueas of BCCI, and which forced the board to ban the stadium from hosting any BCCI affiliated games there.
Last year, the stadium hosted the inaugural edition of Pink ball Duleep Trophy, when the Delhi authorities showed their incompetence to host the tournament. The month-long tournament was a great success then. BCCI also hosted few of the Ranji games at the stadium, and the ground was deemed fit to host domestic matches.

At present, the stadium is also the home ground for Afghanistan national team. They also played One-Day and First-Class games at the start of the year against Ireland. Despite the ban from the BCCI, the stadium will continue to be the home ground for the Afghanistan cricket team.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) decided to shift their base from Sharjah to Noida in December 2015 to strengthen the ties between India and Afghanistan.
