BCCI CEO Rahul Johri Confirms India Tour Of South Africa 1

Rahul Johri, the CEO of BCCI, has confirmed that the India tour of South Africa will go as per plan and no matches will be cut from the series. With BCCI preponing the Sri Lanka tour to India, there were chances that the South Africa series might be shortened due busy international schedule but now it has been confirmed that India will play a full fledged series in the country, which will also comprise of all the four Test matches which were slated to be played.

“The South Africa tour is on. There is some back and forth on dates, but it will be a full tour and that has been locked in,” Johri told PTI.

This will be team India’s first tour to the country after a period of four years. It was in 2013 when India travelled to South Africa under the captaincy of MS Dhoni and it is be noted that the tour was shortened due to other matches. Though it did not have an impact on South Africa tour of India and the AB de Villiers led team travelled to the country for a complete series in 2015, comprising of 3 T20Is, five ODIs and four Test matches.

The India series against South Africa will also be the first complete tour of Indian cricket team outside the sub-continent after a period of more than one year. The board has already announced a bumper home season for the team which will comprise of limited over series against Australia, New Zealand and will be followed by a complete full fledged series against Sri Lanka again.

Next year though, team India is slated to tour countries like Australia and England, which will determine the success of the team in the challenging conditions.
