The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Chief Executive Officer Rahul Johri and the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators chief Vinod Rai are scheduled to meet for discussions about the fall-out between Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli.

Team manager Kapil Malhotra has been asked to submit a detailed report about the entire scene. Johri will then submit the report to Rai and the two will discuss Kumble’s unceremonious exit. The meeting is set to be held on June 24.

Kumble stepped down as India coach on Tuesday due to a fall out with skipper Kohli. The report of the controversy brewing in the Indian dressing room first came to light on May 30 just before the start of the Champions Trophy.

Kohli, however, refuted the claims made by the media. The BCCI also was on the damage control mode before eventually, Kumble put down his resignation the Tuesday night.

Kumble’s open letter revealed a couple of important pieces of information related to the spat between coach– captain duo. He revealed that BCCI tried to step and clear the misunderstanding between the two. However, Kohli wasn’t interested in ironing out the differences, therefore, forcing Kumble to bow out.

Kumble was appointed by the BCCI formed CAC comprising former players Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman and his tenure expired with the end of Champions Trophy 2017.

“I was informed for the first time yesterday by the BCCI that the Captain had reservations with my ‘style’ and about my continuing as the Head Coach. I was surprised since I had always respected the role boundaries between Captain and Coach. Though the BCCI attempted to resolved the misunderstandings between the Captain and me, it was apparent that the partnership was untenable, and I, therefore, believe it is best for me to move on.”

The team is currently in West Indies preparing for the limited overs series which includes five ODIs and one T20I. The tour of West Indies will be followed a full-fledged tour to Sri Lanka next month from July 26 to September 6. The teams will play three Tests, five ODIs and a T20 International.

“While the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) had endorsed an extension to his tenure as head coach, Anil Kumble has decided not to continue as the coach,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.

So far, former cricket Virender Sehwag, Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody, Lalchand Rajput, Englishman Richard Pybus and Dodda Ganesh have applied for the job. The CAC will oversee the selection process of the new coach. It is expected that the new coach will be named before India start their tour of Sri Lanka in July.
