BCCI Officially Lodge Complaint Against Steve Smith For DRS Controversy 1

Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) have officially filed a complaint with ICC against Australian captain Steve Smith and batsman Peter Handscomb regarding the DRS controversy that happened in the recently concluded Bengaluru test.

The board have decided to lodge the complaint as the elite cricket governing body has decided against levying any charges on the players for their unsporting behavior.

In case if you didn’t know, Australian captain Steve Smith was declared out by the on-field umpire after being plumb in front of the wickets. The skipper have taken his time before taking a review and have tried to communicate with the dressing room staff whether to go for DRS review or not.

The umpire as well as Indian players have regulated him from doing so and the skipper walked away to the pavilion. The incident has raised eyebrows across the cricketing fraternity as both analysts and former cricketers have bashed the skipper for him unprofessionalism at that moment.

BCCI CEO Rahul Johri have decided to take a legal action as the board have 48 hours post the incident to officially lodge the complaint as per the guidelines given by ICC.

Steve Smith has been the centre of controversy as Virat Kohli looks clearly unhappy with his counterpart when the incident happened and had a deep discussion with the on field umpires. Despite that, ICC have not charged Smith as the Aussie skipper have admitted himself about the incident that happened.

The controversy went beyond the cricketing field as both the boards have defended their own skippers in their own media releases. Cricket Australia Chief Executive James Sutherland have termed Virat Kohli’s allegations as outrageous on the incident while BCCI have come in defense of Virat Kohli and remained firm on their stand in the incident.
