Amid the controversy regarding the rescheduling of two Ranji Trophy games, Sourav Ganguly, a member of the technical committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clearly said it is the board which has rescheduled the game not the technical committee.
“This was not decided by technical committee. This was put forward to the technical committee by BCCI,” he told ESPNcricinfo.
The two games between Tripura and Hyderabad, Gujarat and Bengal, which were scheduled to be played in Delhi earlier this month, were canceled due to excessive smog in the national capital. The umpires waited for two days before abandoning the game. Instead of sharing the points between two teams, the BCCI decided to reschedule them.
This rescheduling of games has not met eyes with few boards as Tamil Nadu and Mumbai boards have already lodged an official complaint to the BCCI, terming this as unfair as in past, in the case of cancellation of any game, the points are shared between two teams but in this case, the BCCI decided to reschedule the games.
As of now, the board has shown no signs of changing their plan and as a result, the knockouts have already been pushed back by a week.
