The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) committed a goof up when they forwarded the contract papers to Paras Mhambrey, which did do not mention his salary.
Mhambrey has been serving as the bowling coach of India U19 for quite some time now, and he has already left his job at Mumbai Indians, which was a rule to acquire any position in BCCI. As per the rules, a coach of a BCCI team is now allowed to provide his services to any other team, the reason why he had to leave the job. Rahul Dravid had already left his job at Delhi Daredevils, and then BCCI offered a fresh contract to him for two years.
Talking of Mahambrey, the board is expected to correct their mistake and send a new contact to the former India pacer, which will also mention his salary.
In another case, Abhay Sharma is yet to receive any official confirmation from the board. The newly appointed fielding coach of India A for the New Zealand A series hasn’t received any formal contract from BCCI. He had replaced Vijay Yadav as the fielding coach of India A a few days back. He was with the India U 19 side in England during their recent visit but was appointed as India A coach for the series.
“We have closed all the senior team contracts and now we will be closing all junior team contracts,” Johri told The Indian Express.
The board has already issued a formal contract to Rahul Dravid. He will continue to be the junior side and India A until the year 2019. It is to be noted that the contracts of the coaching staff of Indian cricket are also for two years, till 219 World Cup. They have already been issued formal contracts in July, but the board is yet to provide official papers to the coaching staff of the junior team.
