The name of the culprit who tried to convince Pravin Tambe, the Rajasthan Royals cricketer, for spot fixing before the start of the IPL8 is revealed by BCCI.  

After the initial inquiry BCCI has suspended Mumbai Ranji cricketer Hiken Shah with immediate effect as he was found guilty of approaching his Ranji teammate Pravin Tambe for spot fixing ahead of IPL 8.

On 27th June it was revealed that Pravin Tambe was approached by his teammates for spot fixing just before the start of the tournament. Tambe refused his offer and report the BCCI Anti Corruption Unit. In the middle of the ACU probe it was known that  Pravin Tambe was approach by his Ranji teammates for fixing. But the name of the culprit was not known as BCCI Anti Corruption Agency was probing the incident.

After a detailed inquiry into the incident, the Anti Corruption Unit suspended Hiken Shah as he found guilty of breaching of Articles 2.1.1; 2.1.2, and 2.1.4 of the player’s code of conduct.

However, BCCI did not mention the name of Pravin Tambe in its press realese.  

In a press release BCCI said, “Hiken Shah made a corrupt approach to one of his colleagues from first-class cricket, who is also a member of one of the IPL teams. The approached player immediately informed the incident to his franchise team. The franchise team followed the process of informing the incident to the Anti Corruption Unit of the BCCI. Based on the information, BCCI president, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya instructed to an immediate enquiry into the matter.”           

BCCI President, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya said, “BCCI has zero tolerance for corruption in the game of cricket. We have and we will take swift action against such incidents to set a precedent and control the menace of corruption in the game. While placing the player under suspension, I have referred the matter to the disciplinary committee of the BCCI to take further action against the player involved.”
