This year’s Ranji season will return to the home and away format after the neutral venue format last season. Captains of the state teams agreed to come back to the format. Another change in this year’s format will be the increase of groups from three to four. Each team will play six games in the group stage. Top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinal stage.

The Ranji season is scheduled to begin on 6th October, and the final to be on 29th December. Gujarat is the current Ranji Trophy champions.
