Board of control for cricket in India (BCCI) is set to pay a hefty amount of 6.25 crores to the new head coach of Indian cricket team Anil Kumble to avail his services for a period of one year. This also makes Kumble the second highest paid coach of all times as according to the Mumbai Mirror Shastri used to get a sum of 75 Lakhs more than that of Kumble.
Still, this amount is the heavy amount which will surely satisfy Kumble after retirement.
Along with that the newspaper also reveals salary of former coaches of Indian cricket team, Gary Kirsten, and Duncan Fletcher. According to the newspaper the salary of both varies from 3-4 crores per year.
“The fee is about Rs 75 lakh less than what Ravi Shastri was being paid annually but much more than the salary drawn by Gary Kirsten and Duncan Fletcher, both of whom were getting between Rs 3-4 crores,” the newspaper reported today (August 23).
Anil Kumble was chosen as the head coach of Indian cricket team on June 23. His appointment created a controversy as Ravi Shastri was not amused by the fact that he has been dumped from the post. The matter settled after the intervention from BCCI.
Kumble has done pretty well on his first voyage to Caribbean island as the Indian team has won the series by a margin of 2-0 but Kumble’s force will undergo a real test in the upcoming T20 series to be played in Florida as West Indies team are a much stronger force in T20’s if compare to Test or One Day cricket.
