Indian cricket team have been toe to toe with hosts England so far in the limited-overs formats. Having won the T20I series, India are all square at 1-1 in the three-match ODI series. The team is set to play England in a five-game Test series after the end of third ODI at Leeds on Tuesday.
However, the Test team for the series is yet to get announced by the selectors. A source close to Mumbai Mirror has suggested it is a well thought out strategy by the board.
The third ODI will be played at Leeds on Tuesday, and the Test team announcement would soon follow after the game.
Apparently, it seems like the selectors want to look at a few players before finalising the squad.
“We’ll announce it on Tuesday. It is a strategy,” the source told Mirror.
Rohit Sharma in Contention After His Impressive Form
Both Rohit Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav were extraordinary on the ongoing tour.
Rohit Sharma had already racked up two hundred while Kuldeep managed 14 wickets in just three games so far. Despite the massive amount of talent Rohit Sharma possess, he failed to nail down a place in Test team.
Even though he had a tough series in South Africa, the team management wants to have a look at his form during the third ODI. On the other hand, they will also look at Kuldeep Yadav ahead of Test series. The left arm chinaman bowler was very good in his two Tests so far.
But they were played in the subcontinent, and the conditions in England are far more different. However, the English players have found it very difficult to get used to his variations. It has made him the deadliest spinner in the world at the moment.
If Kuldeep Yadav gets selected into the final squad, it remains to see if selectors will go ahead and pick both Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja in the Test squad. Meanwhile, Karun Nair may also retain his place in the Test team with his recent form.
