BCCI’s ‘Logistical Issues’ Delay India Team Selection For England Series 1

Indian squad for the limited-overs series against England, scheduled to be selected on January 6, has been delayed as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not have the provisions to conduct selection meeting without the assent of President of the board, as reported by News18.

It is to be understood that the Supreme Court sacked Anurag Thakur from the post of BCCI President on January 2. Along with him, Ajay Shirke, the secretary of the board was also removed from his post. For the time being, Rahul Johri, the CEO of BCCI has replaced Anurag Thakur as the boss.

Ajay Divan, who was selected by the Supreme Court to choose the next President of the board, will announce the name of next President on January 19.

Johri has been given the go-ahead by Justice R.M. Lodha-led panel to participate in day-to-day activities of the BCCI until their permanent top boss is selected by January 19th.

India is scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is against England from January 15. Virat Kohli is set to be named as the new skipper of limited-overs as M.S. Dhoni has relinquished the post, just two days ahead of the selection meet.
