I Believe MS Dhoni Is Still Good Enough For All Format Cricket: Mohammad Kaif 1

After smashing 107-ball 129 runs which included 10 boundaries and six sixes against Mohammad Kaif-led Chhattisgarh side in the Vijay Trophy fixture on Sunday, Jharkhand skipper and national side limited-overs wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni made Kaif believe that Dhoni is the best player who could have still played all format cricket at the international level while lauding his ability as a finisher.

“He has natural abilities. I believe he is still good enough for all formats of the game. He is still hitting the ball hard,” Kaif was quoted as saying by PTI.

The Uttar Pradesh-born 36-year-old former India cricketer Kaif also took to microblogging site Twitter to praise the wicket-keeper batsman Dhoni for hitting the ball cleanly before stating it was the learning curve for his bowlers in the List A game.

In the Group D game at the Eden Gardens, Jharkhand set the target of 244 for Chhattisgarh side which was eventually bundled out for 165 in 38.4 overs.

Dhoni-led Jharkhand won the 50-over game by 78 runs after his splendid knock while slaying the Kaif-led side bowlers.

Before registering his 17th List A hundred, the 35-year-old Dhoni earlier rescued his team against Karnataka when he scored 43 off 50 balls in their opening game.

“I have been watching Dhoni from his debut match for and always felt you cannot become a ‘Dhoni’ just by practice,” Kaif added who scored 23 for his side.

After Jharkhand were teetering at 57 for six in the 20th over, Dhoni piled up 151-run stand with Shahbaz Nadeem to set a decent total for the Chhattisgarh after a dismal start.

“We would have bundled them for 120 if Dhoni was not there,” Indian former cricketer Kaif said.

After the third Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Dhoni announced his retirement from the Test career in December 2014 before announcing his One-day International retirement as a skipper last month.

Kaif has played with Dhoni in the mid-2000s. The right-handed batsman Kaif played 13 Tests for India in which he had scored 624 runs.
