Want to be a professional cricketer?
English all-rounder Ben Stokes was one of the top performers in this home summer. After the recently concluded home summer, the UK-based tabloid newspaper The Sun published Stokes’ 31-year-old family tragedy. The English all-rounder has lashed out that newspaper. Soon, he has got huge support from other people, including the cricket fraternity.
On Tuesday (17th September), The Sun published the 31 years back family tragedy of Ben Stokes at their front page. According to that report, his mother’s ex-boyfriend killed Stokes’ one half-brother and one half-sister due to the jealousy on her new relationship. That incident happened in 1988, three years before the birth of Ben Stokes.
The Stokes’ family had kept that private traumatic incident very secret. But the UK-based newspaper has totally opened up that tragic memory once again with their latest publication.
After knowing this, Stokes totally lashed out at The Sun. The 28-year-old has expressed his view on his official social media accounts.
In that statement, Stokes wrote, “It is hard to find words that adequately describe such low and despicable behaviour, disguised as journalism. I cannot conceive of anything more immoral, heartless or contemptuous to the feelings and circumstances of my family.”
This is the lowest form of journalism
The English all-rounder called this kind of practice is utterly disgusting.
Stokes further added, “This is the lowest form of journalism, focused only on chasing sales with absolutely no regard for the devastation caused to lives as a consequence. It is totally out of order.
“The article also contains serious inaccuracies which have compounded the damage caused. We need to take a serious look at how we allow our press to behave.”
In the conclusion of that statement, Ben Stokes has requested everyone to respect his family’s privacy and right to home life.
