Australian cricketer Steve Smith with his outstanding comeback has impressed everyone. It didn’t feel that the player had a one year halt in his career as he filled it with his great performance in Ashes 2019. He was the leading scorer in the Test series with 774 runs though he didn’t play the one Test match because of concussion. It was the only last innings of Ashes 2019 where he scored below fifty and got out on the Stuart Board’s short ball.
In whole Ashes 2019, he was booed and was called with wrong names by England crowed. But in the last innings of the last Test match, he was given standing ovation by the crowd. Steve smith expressed his happiness of playing in this Ashes. He also feels delighted by the action of the crowd.
“It meant a lot to have that reception from the crowd today. It’s been an amazing couple of months with the World Cup and the Ashes, the cricket has been spectacular. The series has ebbed and flowed. I’ve loved every minute and I’m really proud of how I’ve been able to perform for Australia and to bring the urn home.”
“You always want to get better as a player. You need to keep working hard and continue doing what helps your team win games.”
Steve Smith applauded Jofra Archer
Smith praises his teammate Matthew Wade’s effort in the last innings as he scored 117 runs.
“You have always got to believe. The middle of the wicket really played well. Wade showed that if you hang in there you could score. But not enough people hung in there with him.”
The bowler which has annoyed Smith the most is Jofra Archer. Smith got injured in his fast bowl and was ruled out of the third match. Australian cricketer praises Archers bowling and wishes him for a bright future.
“I saw Jofra last year at the IPL and realized he is a very special talent. He has got a very bright future.”
