Ben Stokes, England allrounder, won Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) Players’ Player of the Year title for his tremendous performance in the ICC World Cup 2019 and Ashes 2019. Meanwhile, Sophie Ecclestone won her second successive Women’s Player of the Summer award.

The ODI and Test Player of the Year was given to Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad respectively. Tom Banton, 20-year-old, was named the Young Player of the Year. He performed very well in white-ball format for Somerset.

Stokes became only the sixth player to win the double of Young Player of the Year award and Player of the Year honour. Ben Stokes has become the crucial player for the England Cricket team. The 28-year-old made debut for England in limited-overs cricket in 2011 since then he has played 57 Tests, 95 ODIs and 23 T20Is.

Ben Stokes: I am over the moon

His innings in World Cup and Ashes are unforgettable. In both those tournaments, he guided the team from the front and gave a match-winning performance. In the third Test match of Ashes 2019, he scored 135* runs at Headingly and handed over the magical victory to England. Because of his effort, The Ashes 2019 series was drawn. In the ICC World Cup 2019, Stokes’ batting in the super-over guided England to win their first Cricket World Cup trophy.

The allrounder is happy after claiming the title and express his gratitude toward the teammates.

Stokes said “It’s hard to put it into words. I am over the moon that players think I am worthy of winning the PCA Players’ Player of the Year through performances this summer.

“You can take a lot of personal pride when you receive this award because it’s your peers that vote for you. Earning this award is a huge moment and something I am very gracious of and I am sure the previous 49 winners are gracious of too.
