Shane Watson’s 2009 Champions Trophy campaign didn’t start well as he scored ducks in the first two matches against West Indies and India. But in the semifinal, he displayed his class. England batting first scored 258 in 50 overs. Australia commencing the chase lost Tim Paine in the second over,  but Australia didn’t lose a single wicket as captain Ricky Ponting and Watson built 252 runs to complete the chase. Watson started slowly but started controlling his innings as he got in going.  He was unbeaten at 136 off 132 balls which were comprised of 10 boundaries and seven lusty sixes.  Ricky Ponting scored unbeaten 111.
