Not so long ago the allrounder was contemplating quitting the game. But how valuable have his contributions been with both bat and ball in New Zealand’s run? His big-hitting prowess (think World Cup final Super Over) makes him a handy option lower down the order as well.

Leaving out the special performance in the final, James Neesham has batted in 7 innings out of the 9 games that New Zealand played in the World Cup. He scored 213 runs at an average just above 35 and has got a high-score of 97 not out. With the ball, he has picked up 12 wickets including a five-wicket haul and is quite economical.

Barring the loss in the final, Jimmy had a fantastic day on the field, both with the bat and the ball. He scored 19 runs off 25 balls in New Zealand’s inning, while picked up 3 wickets in his 7 overs in the second half of the match. Even in super over, Jimmy Neesham did his best for the team.
