South Africa middle-order batsman JP Duminy believes that their best is yet to come and he is proud of what South Africa has achieved so far in 2016.

“There were many ups and downs…much to reflect on and to be thankful for. I’m proud of what we have achieved this year as a team. And I believe the best is yet to come”

The South African team has played some magnificent cricket this year as they first whitewashed the Aussies 5-0 in the ODI’s at home and then went on to win the Test series 2-1.

Previously they won the Test series against New Zealand and also won a five-match ODI series against England.

Duminy reflected on the highs and lows of the year and quoted “I would definitely have to say this was our 5-0 one-day international (ODI) whitewash against Australia. We go into every series with the ambition to win, and, generally, when you achieve that early in a series, you tend to back off”

“But the hunger and the determination within the team to ‘strive for more’ were remarkable and were a great inspiration to me, personally”

The 32 year old also highlighted on of his lows which was being left out of the New Year’s Test at the beginning of the year.

“A New Year’s Test is certainly one of our iconic events on the Test calendar and something one always wants to be part of”

“Being given the No. 4 spot in the Test team against New Zealand. One always feels that batting at No. 4 has quite a bit of responsibility and significance and it’s an honour to be given that responsibility”
