Bhuvneshwar Kumar appointed as the chairman of Anil Kumble’s ‘fine committee’

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been appoited as the chairman of the “fine committee” which has been given the responisibility of enforcing Anil Kumble’s new rule of punishing late-comers with a fine of 50$. According to Kumble, a player will have to pay a fine of $50 if he  arrives late for the team bus.

The three-member committee is completed by Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara.
On Saturday (July 16), BCCI informed the fans about the new committee on its Twitter page. It also posted a video in which  the committee’s chairman, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was giving the details of the new initiative.

“There is a new fine committee. It relates to punctuality and other rules which have been framed (for the players). If players don’t arrive on time and if there is any other related issues (indiscipline), they have to pay fines.  I am the chairman. (Cheteshwar) Pujara will collect the fines and there is Shikhar (Dhawan) who will handle the appeals if somebody thinks he is wrongly fined,” the pacer said.

He said  no player has been punished so far.

“We had a trial for 1 week. So far nobody has been fined. However, the rules are in place from yesterday (July 15). So far nobody has been fined. It is difficult to say who will pay more fine. It all depends on punctuality,” the pacer explained.

The pacer also revealed that the fine collected by the committee will go to  charity.

“Whatever fines we collect will go for charity. But we have not yet decided as to where this money will exactly go. But it is for charity,” he revealed.

Kumble has been devising new policies in the dressing room ever since he took charge of the team. Apart from this latest rule, he had also introduced  ‘Buddy Project’, where players are split into groups of two with a senior player explaining his experience in international cricket with his junior teammate.

Meanwhile, the Indian team is currently in  West Indies  to play four Tests against the West Indies. The first match starts in Antigua on July 21.
