Bhuvneshwar Kumar enters in the list top-10 ODI bowlers
In the newly updated ICC bowlers’ ranking, the 25-year-old Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar entered into the top-10 ODI bowlers after gaining one place, while off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has moved one place to reach ninth.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is expected to play the T20 and ODI series during South Africa’s tour of India starting on September 26, has 639 rating points while Ashwin has 644 respectively, while the list is topped by South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir. Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc and West Indies spinner Sunil Narine are second and third, respectively.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar played just one match against UAE in the 2015 World Cup. But, he returned in the Bangladesh ODI series and played all three matches and also toured Zimbabwe where he played 3 ODIs.
He broke into the list as he performed well in Zimbabwe, where he took 4 wickets for 33 runs with three maidens in the second ODI at Harare Sports Club.
With India will play a three-match T20 series, five-match ODI series and a four-match Test series against South Africa at home Bhuvneshwar Kumar is expected to display his current good form.
Ravichandran Ashwin, meanwhile, is also the highest-ranked Indian bowler in all three formats of the game. The Chennai-born is eighth in Tests, and fourth in T20s.
