Big Bash League 2016: Injured Shane Watson In Doubt For The League Opener
The former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is in doubt for the start of the Big Bash League as the newly appointed skipper of Sydney Thunders has picked up a calf injury during the warm-up contest of the Big bash League. The veteran all-rounder picked up the strain during the first innings of the warm-up game and did not come out to bat in the second innings.
This has now put Watson’s participation in doubt for the opening round of Big Bash league which starts on December 20. Watson blow will be a big issue for this franchise as he was given the responsibility to lead the team this time after Michael Hussey retired from the game. Hussey led the franchise to a successful campaign last year. Watson’s injury will now force the administration to look for a new captain on a short notice.
Shane Watson retired from cricket after the completion of T20 World Cup 2016. The veteran all-rounder marked his presence in 59 Tests, 190 ODIs and 58 T20Is. He was always known to be a dominating force in dead rubbers, scoring a century in the third T20I on January 31 against India being the latest example of it.
