It was a one-sided affair in the 27th match of the ongoing Big Bash League 2018-19 as defending champions Adelaide Strikers won by 41 runs against Melbourne Stars. Thus, the reigning champions have occupied the second place in the points table. The visitors, Melbourne Stars won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Adelaide Strikers didn’t get a good start as Matthew Bird as sent back by Jackson Bird. Furthermore, Jake Weatherald soon followed his opening partner after he scored only 15 runs. However, Adelaide Strikers skipper Travis Head and Colin Ingram added 74 runs for the fourth wicket.
The southpaw skipper scored 43 runs off just 31 balls and scored three sixes in his innings. Furthermore, Colin Ingram continued his good form going. The left-hander scored a fine knock of 57 runs from only 41 balls, to get the Man of the match award.
Jonathan Wells applied the finishing touches to the innings as he scored 32 off just 14 balls. He scored four fours and one six in his blistering knock. On the other hand, England’s pacer Liam Plunkett scalped four wickets for the Melbourne Stars.
Melbourne Stars got an ideal start to their run-chase. Their openers Evan Gulbis and Ben Dunk added 50-runs partnership to start their chase. Evan Gulbis was the aggressor as he scored 37 from 25 balls and smashed five fours and one six.
However, Stars veered off the track as they lost their top four wickets for only 15 runs on the board. The Windies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo tried to keep his side in the game. However, the Stars were always behind the eighth-ball.
Michael Neser, Wes Agar, Liam O Connor bagged two wickets whereas Ben Laughlin scalped three wickets in the game.
