The eighth season of the Big Bash League 2018-19 will kickstart when reigning champions Adelaide Strikers will lock horns with Brisbane Heat at latter’s home ground. It is going to be another exciting season and both these teams will like to draw first blood in the season. Adelaide Strikers had gone all the way in the previous edition of the tournament and will like to replicate their performance.
The Strikers had ticked the right boxes in the last season and thus will like to continue with the same. South Africa’s southpaw batsman Colin Ingram who was bought by Delhi Capitals for a whopping amount of INR 6.4 Crores is going to hold the captaincy reins for Strikers. On the other hand, the hard-hitting Chris Lynn will take the captaincy bridle for Brisbane Heat.
Strikers will like to begin their title defence on a high.
Adelaide Strikers had won seven out of the ten league matches whereas Brisbane Heat had found themselves in the bottom half of the table with only four wins from ten games. Thus, Strikers will like to repeat a similar performance whereas Brisbane Heat will like to turn the tables.

Interestingly there will be no toss in this season of the BBL. In fact, it would be decided by a bat flip, as it would happen for the first time in the history of the game.
Brisbane Heat has a mystery spinner in Mujeeb Ur Rahman and they would want the talented Afghanistan spinner to do the job for their team. Rahman has a plethora of variations in his armoury and would like to unleash them in the eighth season of the league.
Rashid Khan is going to hold the key.
On the other hand, Rahman will face tough competition from his country teammate, Rashid Khan. The leg-spinner is going to hold the key for the defending champions. In fact, Rashid Khan was the leading wicket-taker in the previous season as the talisman had scalped 18 wickets from 11 matches.
Similarly, one more key factor that contributed to the success of the Adelaide Strikers were their in-form batsman. Out of the top five run-getters of the last season, three were from the Strikers. In fact, all three of them were left-handers as Alex Carey, Jake Weatherald and Travis Head scored more than 350 runs for the team. Consequently, they would like to carry the same kind of form in this season.
On the other hand, Brisbane Heat is going to depend on their skipper Chris Lynn and former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum. Both of them make a lethal opening pair and would like to deliver the goods.
