Big Bash League 2018-19: Melbourne Renegades vs Sydney Sixers – Report. Melbourne Renegades all-rounder Daniel Christian helped his side to book their final berth against Melbourne Stars in the ongoing Big Bash League. Renegades won the semifinal contest against Sydney Sixers by three wickets after Christain scored a blistering knock of 31 runs from only 14 balls. The right-hander smashed three sixes in his quickfire knock to help his side get over the line.
Melbourne Renegades vs Sydney Sixers – Sydney Sixers Innings:
Sydney Sixers received a perfect start from both their openers after Melbourne Renegades won the toss and decided to bowl first. Josh Phillippe and Daniel Hughes provided an alliance of 87 runs for the opening partnership. The wicketkeeper-batsman Phillippe was the aggressor whereas Hughes took a backseat.
In fact, Hughes had the rub of the green on his side as Sam Harper missed a stumping chance. The left-handed and right-handed batsman added 58 runs in the first six overs without any damage in the wicket’s column. However, Phillippe was dismissed soon after scoring his fifty. Consequently, Daniel Hughes was able to accelerate after losing his opening partner.
However, Melbourne Renegades was able to stem the runs flow in the final five overs. In fact, Jordan Silk scored 7-ball 17 to help his side get to 180 runs in their allotted 20 overs. However, James Vince and Moises Henriques could not hit the ground running as they scored below the strike rate of 120.
Melbourne Renegades vs Sydney Sixers – Melbourne Renegades innings:
The hosts could not get off to a good start when they lost Marcus Harris in the first over. The southpaw batsman shimmied down the track against Steve O’Keefe but could not get the connection. Meanwhile, Renegades gloveman Sam Harper was able to hit the ground running from the get-go. Harper scored a quick knock of 36 runs from 17 balls.
However, Harper could not pick the slower ball and got an outside edge. Furthermore, Cameron White also came out all guns blazing as he scored a 17-ball 29. On the other hand, Renegades captain Aaron Finch decided to hold one end as he scored 44 runs from 41 balls.
Furthermore, Daniel Christian provided the finishing touches to help them get over the line. On the other side, Ben Dwarchius and Steve O’Keefe scalped two wickets each.
